Sketching the Iris for “God’s Magnificent Wisdom”- Part 2 & 3

After taking time to catch-up on things at work, designing a yearbook cover for my students, and planning my upcoming trip to Ireland with my mom, it’s been great to get back to work on my latest “Enduring Roots” drawing titled “Gods’ Magnificent Wisdom”.  Over the last few weeks, I’ve been able to finish drawing the iris using a grid technique to help me enlarge them accurately.

It’s quite a challenge for me to get the ruffles drawn correctly, and I found myself doing a lot of erasing and making corrections.  The fun part comes as I’m finally able to figure it out and drawn them correctly.  I find such a sense of accomplishment in conquering that challenge and capturing the little masterpieces God creates with each flower.

Here are 2 short videos of me drawing these last two iris – mistakes and all!  🙂  Enjoy!

My next step is to trace this drawing in colored pencil onto the colored pencil paper, and then to do the same with the Celtic cross I designed for this piece. More updates to come!

God’s Blessings and Joy Be to You,
Gena
