It starts with photographing the flowers in just the right light to bring out every facet of their beauty.  Next, Gena selects the right Celtic symbols to put into a Celtic cross she designs to best compliment the flowers, all while wrestling with the math that is needed to ensure those designs are drawn precisely, but she loves it because it connects her to her Irish roots.  Then comes nearly 500 hours of painstaking attention to detail while placing up to 30 layers of color on every square inch in order to capture every nuance of color, light, and shade to preserve each floral masterpiece at the height of its beauty.  The details matter.  

"It's often a big struggle and sometimes a fight to accurately capture these flowers and preserve their beauty.  How do I draw all those ruffles and get all those colors?  Where do I start?  What pencils do I use?  What's the right way to layer them?  What if I get it wrong?  But you push through and the struggle brings growth.  And, one ruffle at a time, you figure it out.  How rewarding that moment is to know that you have preserved this beautiful flower for everyone to experience and enjoy!  How rewarding it is to know that in some small way it can encourage or uplift someone else, or add a touch of beauty to their lives and homes.  Even if it touches just one person and brightens their day - it's totally worth it!  That's the reason for doing it!"
